Managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva through a letter, has expressed her recognition of Pakistan’s efforts to ensure a safe evacuation of its staff from Afghanistan in the post-Taliban takeover. In a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan, Kristalina Georgieva said Pakistan’s efforts “were absolutely critical to the safe and swift evacuation of IMF staff and their families from Afghanistan”. KARACHI: Pakistan Air Force’s (PAF) Flight Lieutenant Dr Mahnoor Farzand has died of COVID-19 on Sunday, confirms the Pakistan Medical Association. Dr Farzand was hospitalised at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Malir Cantt due to the virus, said that PMA. She breathed her last on Sunday. Her father had also tested positives for COVID-19 and was hospitalised. According to the Pakistan Medical Association data, 220 doctors have so far died of coronavirus in the country.
