In the month of July two expedition teams separately summited Gasherbrum-II (8,080 metres) and Broad Peak (8,047 metres).

Pakistani G2 Expedition 2021 members Sirbaz Khan, Naila Kiani and Ali Raza Sadpara raised Pakistani flag atop Gasherbrum-II.

They had started the final push on Saturday night after beginning their adventure in the second week of June.

Meanwhile, Pakistan and International Joint K2 and Broad Peak expedition team members, who also include Jalaluddin, Eid Mohammad and Faryad Karim from Gilgit-Baltistan, climbed the Broad Peak (8,047 metres).

Mirza Ali, the team leader, said more members were on their way to the summit.

The expedition consists of 13 international climbers from UAE, Qatar, Spain, Austria, Greece, UK, USA and Finland, and 24 local mountaineers from Shimshal, Sadpara, Hushe and Arandu.

Separately, Sajid Ali Sadpara and Canadian filmmaker Elia Saikaly, who are attempting to locate bodies of three climbers Mohammad Ali Sadpara, John Snorri of Iceland and MP Mohr of Chile at K2, have established ropes up to the camp 4.

About Naila Kiyani

In 2018, a video went viral on social media showing a woman in a wedding dress in front of Pakistan’s largest peak K2.  The lady was singing wedding songs. That woman none other than Naila Kiani. It was her first major trek.
