    US embassy announces 700 additional scholarship for Pakistani women

    On September 2, the United States Embassy in Pakistan announced it will award an additional 700 graduate-level scholarships to Pakistani women in partnership with the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC). These two-year scholarships, which begin this year and last until 2023, will be awarded to outstanding women to earn master's degrees in agriculture, business, engineering, health sciences, and social sciences.     Pakistan’s first HVDC Matiari-Lahore line got operational

    Pakistan’s first private sector Matiari-Lahore high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission line project has become operational.     4 Pakistani companies awarded oil and gas agreement in Abu Dhabi

    The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) on Tuesday announced it has signed a historic exploration concession agreement awarding exploration rights for Abu Dhabi’s Offshore Block 5 to a consortium of four Pakistani companies. Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL), Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), and Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) are part of the consortium to be led by PPL.

    A Pakistani microfinance pioneer, Muhammad Amjad Saqib who developed an interest-free microfinance programme has  won Asia's equivalent to the Nobel Prize. Amjad Saqib-64, won the Ramon Magsaysay Award for his “first-of-its-kind” interest- and collateral-free microfinance programme that catalysed scores of poor households.
