In a packed Gaddafi Stadium under the bright Sunday lights, Pakistan completed a dominant 3-0 Twenty20 International (T20I) series clean sweep against Bangladesh, thanks to a sensational maiden T20I century from Mohammad Haris.
Haris smashed an unbeaten 107 off just 46 balls, launching Pakistan to a comprehensive seven-wicket win as they chased down a massive 197-run target with 16 balls remaining. This win marks Pakistanās first T20I series victory at home since December 2021 and symbolizes their smooth shift toward a modern, aggressive white-ball approach.
Coming in early after the dismissal of Sahibzada Farhan in the first over, Haris showed no signs of pressure. The wicketkeeper-batter tore into Bangladeshās bowling attack, hitting 8 fours and 7 sixes in a breathtaking knock. Haris became the first non-opener from Pakistan to score a T20I hundred.
Supporting Haris was young Saim Ayub, who found his rhythm in the third match after two quiet games. Saimās 45 off 29 balls included two fours and four sixes, helping Pakistan dominate the powerplay at 56-1. The duoās 124-run stand laid the foundation for a swift chase.
After Saim and Hasan Nawaz fell, the pressure could have returnedābut Haris never lost momentum. He kept finding the boundary, bringing up his century with a double before skipper Salman Ali Agha calmly finished the match in the 18th over.
Earlier, Bangladesh posted 196-6, powered by an explosive 110-run opening stand between Parvez Hossain (66 off 34) and Tanzid Hasan (42 off 32). Parvez was particularly brutal, smashing four sixes and seven boundaries, reaching his half-century in just 26 balls.
Bangladesh looked set for a 200+ total, but Pakistan pulled it back impressively in the death overs. Abbas Afridi, despite an expensive start, returned to bowl two brilliant final overs, finishing with 2-26. Pakistan conceded just 46 runs in the final five overs and picked up four wickets.
Parvez and Tanzid dominated early, punishing Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, and debutant Saim Ayub in the powerplay. Bangladesh reached 99-0 at the halfway mark before wickets began to fall. Faheem and Abrar Ahmed broke the momentum, dismissing the openers quickly.
Towhid Hridoy and Litton Das tried to rebuild, but Abbasā return in the 17th and 18th overs shut the door on a late charge. Shamim and Mehidy fell cheaply, while Jaker Ali added a few late boundaries to push the score closer to 200.
After the match, players from both sides attended a special ceremony at the Governor House, where they posed with President Asif Ali Zardari and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqviācelebrating not just a win, but the return of exciting cricket on Pakistani soil.
With this clean sweep, Pakistanās new-era white-ball blueprint looks promising, and Mohammad Haris has firmly placed himself as a future T20 star to watch.
