14 things you should know about Pakistan

Pakistan has so many things that the rest of the world does not have, but many want to give up. Besides the so many challenges, there is something good about Pakistan.

Here are some breathtaking beauty and incredible strengths of Pakistan.

 1. Pakistan ranks ‘cheapest country to live in’

Pakistan has been ranked as ‘the cheapest country in the world to live in’ with a cost of living index showing 18.58, followed by Afghanistan 24.51, India 25.14, and Syria 25.31, according to the cost of living index by GoBankingRatesCompany. According to GoBankingRates which used four metrics used include rent index, local purchasing power index, consumer price index, groceries index, and information compiled is compared to the cost of living in New York City, one of the most expensive cities in the world.

2.  The world’s 10th largest standing force

Pakistan Army has been ranked the 10th most powerful in the world out of 133 countries on the Global Firepower index 2021, according to data released by the group on its official website.

The list by Global Firepower (GFP) relies on more than 50 factors to determine a nation’s PowerIndex (‘PwrIndx’) score with categories ranging from military might and financials to logistical capability and geography. In the annual GFP review of 2021, Pakistan Armed Forces scored 0.2083 with 0.000 being the perfect score in the list. With a huge jump of five places leaving behind Israel, Canada, Iran and Indonesia in the process, Pakistan is the only country in the top 15 that improved its ranking.

3.    Pakistan to become 23rd biggest economy by 2040

Pakistan is set to become the world’s 23rd biggest economy by 2040 based on its predicted gross domestic product (GDP) rank which currently sits at 39th position, according to a United States intelligence report, which is issued every four years.

The assessment was included in this year’s Global Trends report by US National Intelligence Council (NIC), which is designed to help policymakers and citizens anticipate the economic, environmental, technological and demographic forces that are likely to shape the world through the next 20 years.

4. Second largest salt mine

After Canadian salt mine holds the distinction of being the largest salt mine in the world. The Khewra Salt Mines were said to be discovered by Alexander the Great in 326 BC. Well, that’s not exactly correct.  Today, the Khewra salt mines are the second largest in the world. They turn out 325,000 tons of salt a year. The output over its lifetime is estimated to be 220 million tons. Amazingly, this isn’t even a dent into the salt that’s stored here, which is estimated to be about 6.687 billion tons. The mine is 748 feet deep with 11 stories; the mine is filled with tunnels that run nearly half a mile into the mountain. Only 50% of what is mined is taken out, the other 50% is used as support columns in the enormous mine.

5.   Pakistan has the world’s largest ambulance service

Pakistan’s Edhi Foundation is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for operating the world’s largest ambulance network. Founded by Abdul Sattar Edhi founder of Edhi Foundation, established in 1951 is a non-profit social welfare program in Pakistan.

6. Largest manmade forest

Changa Manga is one of the largest man-planned and man-grown forests in the world. It covers an area of approximately 12,000 acres.

7. Asia’s largest bird sanctuary

Haleji Lake is a perennial freshwater lake in Thatta District of Sindh, is another asset of the Pakistani nation. It is Asia’s greatest waterfowl reserve. During winter, a hundred thousand birds fly down to Haleji from the cold of Siberia, making it the largest bird sanctuary of the continent.

8. Largest Irrigation System

Pakistan has the world’s largest contiguous irrigation system, according to the United Nations.

 

9. Top national anthem tune of the world

Inspiring, motivational and beautiful lyricx   makes Pakistan’s national anthemthe number one ranked tune in the world. Hafeez Jullundhri’s words were composed by musician Ahmad G Chagla. Pakistan also holds the record of most people singing the anthem, simultaneously.

10. World’s Highway is in Pakistan

The Karakoram Highway is the world’s highest paved international road, according to Travel+Leisure magazine. The 800-mile highway connects Pakistan to western China, and reaches a maximum height of 15,300 feet.

11. World’s Highest ATM

Speaking of heights, the ATM at the world’s highest elevation belongs to the National Bank of Pakistan and sits in the Khunjerab Pass, in Gilgit-Baltistan. It was established in November 2016 and is 15,397 feet above sea level.

12. Land of Six UNESCO Heritage Sites

Pakistan has six designated UNESCO World Heritage sites: the archeological ruins at Moenjodaro, Takht-i-Bahi and the neighboring city remain at Sahr-i-Bahlol; the Fort and Shalamar Gardens in Lahore; the monuments at Makli; Fort Rohtas; and the ancient ruins of Taxila.

13. Breath-taking Natural Beauty

Pakistan has been blessed by a miraculous landscape. Aansu Lake in Kaghan valley, shaped like a teardrop, is at a height lake with 16,490 feet. It is close Malika Parbat in the Himalayan range.

14. Pakistan is rooftop of world.

Trangi Towers, the tallest vertical mountain in the world, Gilgit-Baltistan, along with four of the 10 highest peaks of the planet, make Pakistan the ‘rooftop of the world’.
Biafo Glacier is the world’s longest glacial system outside the polar regions and that too is in Pakistan. It is not all, a view of a tunnel and bridge over a river on the railway track from Rohri to Quetta, considered the longest railway gradient of the world while the same railway line is the most scenic railway ride of Asia.
