Pakistan’s javelin ace Arshad Nadeem and fellow athlete Muhammad Yasir have secured spots in the finals of the 26th Asian Athletics Championships in South Korea. This achievement comes just months after Arshad’s historic gold medal win at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where he set a new Olympic record with a throw of 92.97 meters.

Arshad qualified impressively with a strong 86.34m throw on his very first attempt in the A Qualification round, leading the field of 21 finalists. Yasir also made it to the finals with a solid 76.07m throw in the B Qualification round, entering the final ranked ninth.

Arshad is currently at the top of the qualifiers, followed by Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage with 83.71m and Japan’s Yuta Sakiyama with 81.36m. His determination and consistent performance have made him a beacon of hope for Pakistan’s athletics community.

In a recent Instagram post, Arshad expressed his gratitude and asked for continued support and prayers ahead of the final on May 31. His confidence and focus remain high as he aims for another strong performance.

The championship also saw notable performances from other Pakistani athletes. Female sprinter Tameem Khan finished 17th in the Women’s 100m heats, while sprinters Shajar Abbas and Abdul Mueed competed in the Men’s 400m heats and semi-finals with respectable timings.

Looking ahead, Arshad Nadeem will travel to England to prepare for the World Athletics Championships in September, aiming to continue his remarkable journey on the international stage.

With athletes like Arshad and Yasir rising, Pakistan is steadily making its mark in Asian and global athletics.
