Though he made his Test debut in 1979 at the age of 31, Doshi wasted no time in making his mark. In just 33 Test matches, he took 114 wickets, displaying masterful control, sharp turn, and deceptive flight. He also represented India in 15 One-Day Internationals between 1980 and 1982.
A bespectacled and studious-looking figure on the field, Doshi was often seen as the philosophical face of Indian spin bowling.
