The vibrant Derajat Festival 2025 concluded with a high-energy closing ceremony at the Ratta Kulachi Sports Stadium in Dera Ismail Khan, drawing thousands to celebrate culture, sports, and unity. The event was headlined by Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, who acknowledged the region’s rich heritage and the collective efforts that made this 40-day festival a success.
The festival, which spanned well over a month, was a true reflection of the diverse traditions and vibrant spirit of the Derajat region. From cultural showcases to competitive sporting events, the lineup was packed with excitement, energy, and emotional pride. The closing event honored standout participants with awards, particularly those who excelled in crowd-favorite competitions like off-road jeep racing, kabaddi, wrestling, horse riding, tent pegging, and more.
In his speech, the Chief Minister praised the peaceful execution of the festival, emphasizing its significance beyond entertainment. “This event sends a strong message to the world—that the Derajat region is rich in history, culture, and tourism potential,” he said. He commended the unwavering commitment of security forces and the local community, acknowledging their sacrifices in making the region peaceful. As a token of appreciation, he announced a Rs10,000 cash reward for each police, rescue, and security officer who helped maintain order during the festival.
One of the most anticipated segments of the festival was the off-road jeep rally, which drew 22 top racers from across Pakistan. The challenging 69-kilometre rugged track tested the skills of all drivers and delivered an adrenaline-filled spectacle for spectators. Nadir Magsi claimed victory in Category A with a remarkable time of 44 minutes and 18 seconds. In Category B, Gohar secured first place, completing the track in 49 minutes and one second. Bewar Mazari triumphed in Category C, clocking 50 minutes and 59 seconds, while Shakeel led Category D with a time of 49 minutes and 59 seconds.
Beyond sports, the festival highlighted local arts, literature, and culture with Quran recitation, Naat competitions, livestock shows, pet exhibitions, and colorful art displays. These events offered a platform for local talent and reinforced the festival’s aim to preserve and promote regional identity.
Strict security arrangements, including checkpoints and constant monitoring, ensured that the large-scale event remained smooth and secure for everyone involved.
