David Beckham, one of Britain’s most iconic footballers, was knighted by King Charles at Windsor Castle, marking a milestone in his illustrious career and charitable work. David Beckham, known for his admiration of the royal family, attended the ceremony dressed in a suit designed by his wife, Victoria Beckham, the renowned fashion designer and former Spice Girls member. During the ceremony, King Charles and Beckham shared a warm exchange filled with smiles and laughter — a moment Beckham described as “incredibly special.”

Speaking to reporters afterward, David Beckham said he cried upon learning of the knighthood, calling it “a big moment for our family.” He joked that he wouldn’t mind being called “Sir Dad” by his children, adding, “It doesn’t get any better. I grew up in a humble home in East London, dreamed of being a footballer, and today I’m standing here at Windsor Castle. It’s surreal.”

David Beckham’s rise from East London to global stardom is one of sports’ most inspiring success stories. Making his Premier League debut for Manchester United in 1995, he went on to win six league titles, two FA Cups, and the UEFA Champions League. His career later took him to Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan, and Paris Saint-Germain, before retiring in 2013 with 115 England caps.

Renowned for his precise free kicks and crossing ability, David Beckham became not only a football icon but also a global brand. He has collaborated with Adidas, Armani, H&M, and Pepsi, and has served as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 2005, using his platform to champion children’s rights worldwide. Together, he and Victoria Beckham have an estimated net worth of £500 million ($671 million) according to the 2025 Sunday Times Rich List.

A self-proclaimed “huge royalist,” David Beckham’s bond with the monarchy is well-documented. In 2022, he waited over 12 hours in line to pay his respects to Queen Elizabeth II, rejecting offers to skip ahead. He also attended both Prince William’s and Prince Harry’s weddings, and shares a personal connection with King Charles through their shared interest in gardening. In 2024, he became an ambassador for The King’s Foundation, which supports education and sustainability projects.

Beyond his legendary career, Beckham remains deeply devoted to his family. Married to Victoria Adams since 1999, the couple share four children. Their relationship, detailed in Netflix documentaries, highlights the challenges and triumphs they faced through fame, distance, and public scrutiny. Beckham often refers to his family as his “greatest achievement,” a testament to his humility and grounded nature despite his global fame.

With his knighthood, Sir David Beckham stands as a symbol of British pride — a man who rose from modest beginnings to become a world icon, all while remaining true to his roots, values, and unwavering sense of service.
