Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal is recovering in the hospital after suffering a major heart attack during a Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League match on Monday. The 36-year-old, who was leading Mohammedan Sporting Club, complained of severe chest pain and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery to implant stents and clear an artery blockage.
Tamim Iqbal’s Condition is Now Stable
Cricket fans across the world breathed a sigh of relief as Tamim regained consciousness and spoke to his family members. Mohammedan club official Tariqul Islam confirmed his condition had improved.
“He is now better. He talked to his family members and also walked briefly at the hospital,” Tariqul told reporters.
The club’s physiotherapist Enamul Haque praised the swift action taken by medical staff.
“We had to go to hospital quickly to save his life, and luckily we did that,” he said.
Tamim is expected to be transferred to another medical facility soon for further observation.
