Dr Faisal Ahmed Khan, Chief of the Balochistan Public-Private Partnership Project, played a pivotal role in implementing this initiative.
According to a reliable source within the provincial government, all relevant stakeholders have been consulted regarding the launch of the long-awaited green bus project in Quetta. After thorough deliberations, the government has decided to acquire eight buses to facilitate the public. Initially, four buses will operate from Serena Chowk Quetta to Belili, while the other four will serve the route to Sariab Customs during the pilot project.
It is worth mentioning that the green bus project was approved by the government led by Jam Kamal Khan.
The implementation of this project aims to provide the citizens of Quetta with a reliable transportation system. However, bureaucratic obstacles and a lack of political commitment have delayed the timely launch of the green bus service.
Other provinces in Pakistan have already successfully implemented similar plans, introducing metro bus services in cities like Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan.
With a population of three million, Quetta currently has only seven bus routes, relying on an outdated public transport system that has remained largely unchanged for the past three decades. This scarcity of routes has made commuting a challenge for the residents of Quetta.
The launch of the Green Bus Service in Quetta holds the promise of improving the transportation landscape, bringing convenience and comfort to the citizens while addressing the long-standing transportation issues. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance the quality of life for the people of Quetta by offering a modern, efficient, and reliable mode of public transportation.
