The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially confirmed that the Bangladesh men’s cricket team will tour Pakistan in May 2025 for a five-match T20I series, a key fixture ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The series will run from May 25 to June 3, with matches scheduled in Faisalabad and Lahore.
Series Update: ODIs Replaced with T20Is
Originally set to include three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20Is under the Future Tour Programme (FTP), the format has now been revised. With the upcoming T20 World Cup, both boards mutually agreed to replace the ODIs with two extra T20Is to fine-tune their squads for the shortest format.
Venue Details and Return to Faisalabad
The series will start in Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium, marking the return of international cricket to the venue after 17 years. The first two matches are scheduled for May 25 and 27. The stadium last hosted an international match in April 2008, which was an ODI clash between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium, with a history of hosting 24 Test matches and 16 ODIs, has recently been active again, staging events like the Champions One-Day Cup and National T20 Cup.
Lahore Leg: Gaddafi Stadium to Host Three Matches
The last three T20Is will be played at Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium on May 30, June 1, and June 3. All five matches will start at 8:00 PM local time. Gaddafi Stadium remains a favorite venue for night matches due to its high-quality facilities and enthusiastic crowds.
Bangladesh’s Arrival and Preparation
The Bangladesh squad is expected to arrive on May 21, with training scheduled at Iqbal Stadium from May 22 to 24. The touring side will look to build momentum and refine their combinations as part of their T20 World Cup preparations.
Recent History
Bangladesh last toured Pakistan in September 2024, where they made headlines by achieving a 2-0 Test series whitewash — their first-ever in Pakistan. This T20I series offers Pakistan a chance to regain confidence after their recent series loss to New Zealand, where they fell short in both ODIs and T20Is.
With both teams eyeing T20 glory, this series promises thrilling contests and a festive cricketing atmosphere for fans.
