Pakistan’s air force has brought a trio of JF-17 fighters to make the type’s Bahrain show debut today. PAF’s made “Thunder” taking part in the flying display.
The Operated by the air force’s 2 Sqn “Minhasians” unit, Pakistan Aeronautical Complex-produced Block-II jets arrived on 6 November after a non-stop flight from Masroor air base.
According to available data, PAF operates 109 JF-17 fighters and 25 B-model trainers, with another 50 on order.
While development partner China has not acquired the single-engined model, both nations are promoting it on the international stage. So far China has brokered a 16-aircraft sale to Myanmar, and Pakistan secured a three-aircraft deal with Nigeria.

Held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and under the supervision of Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Personal Representative of His Majesty the King and Chairman of BIAS’ Supreme Organising Committee, the major aviation event runs till November 11 at the Sakhir Airbase.
All About Bahrain International Air Show
Around 180 companies, 100 delegations and around 100 aircraft will take part in the Bahrain International Airshow’s sixth edition. BIAS in its sixth edition celebrates a decade of distinction, with an exciting programme of new features, industry-leading content, and a first-class networking experience with key regional decision-makers.
The show directly aims to support the growth and development of the Kingdom’s transportation industry in general, and its aviation sector specifically.
The three-day long show will be strong opportunities for networking and business development, technologies, and innovation, a one-of-a-kind exhibition showcasing the latest aircraft from across the global aerospace industry.
The forum will feature a series of high-level discussions with global experts talking about key industry trends in Airports and Airlines, Cargo and Logistics, Women in Aerospace and Space.
More than 54,000 trade visitors are expected at the event.
The three-day event will also include a daily family area from 10am to 6pm, children’s entertainment, mascots, face painting, featuring street performers, and more. While musical acts will be entertaining visitors, with three DJs designated for each of the days. On first day DJ Isa, 2nd day DJ Wanasa and on third day DJ Sara will lead the music.
