The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has raised the valuations of all six existing Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises to nearly three times their previous amounts while setting a base price of Rs1.30 billion per year for each of the two new teams. The move comes as part of the board’s strategy to attract international investors and expand the league to eight franchises.

While the PCB has not made an official announcement, sources confirmed that the new valuations represent a substantial increase from the original figures. Unlike 2016, when franchise prices were quoted in US dollars, all financial dealings are now denominated in Pakistani rupees. Quetta Gladiators, the 2019 champions, remain the lowest-valued franchise at approximately Rs360 million per year. Peshawar Zalmi has risen to Rs480 million, Karachi Kings to Rs650 million, and Lahore Qalandars, winners of three recent editions, now stand at Rs670 million. Multan Sultans, initially the league’s most expensive team, has been revalued at Rs1.08 billion per year.
The PCB has maintained the annual player budget at USD 1.4 million per team. Ownership of the six existing franchises remains intact for the next ten editions, with Multan Sultans recently changing hands after previous owner Ali Tareen’s criticisms of the league’s administration.
As part of its global outreach, the PCB has conducted a roadshow in London to engage potential investors for the new franchises and for Multan Sultans. Six cities — Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Hyderabad, Muzaffarabad, and Gilgit — have been shortlisted, with two final locations to be selected for the league’s expansion. A similar domestic investor initiative is not planned, but the board announced an upcoming roadshow in New York City, aimed at highlighting the PSL’s commercial strength and international following ahead of the January 6 franchise auction.
Six Pakistan men’s team players are scheduled to participate in the New York event, including T20I captain Salman Ali Agha, Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Saim Ayub, Shan Masood, and Saud Shakeel, signaling the league’s growing global visibility and ambition.
