Travis Head impacted a brilliant 103 not out and Steve Smith made an unbeaten half-century to move Australia to 234-3 at tea on the moment day of the third Test against India on Sunday.

After all but 13.2 overs of the primary day were washed out on Saturday in Brisbane, Head and Smith batted through the center session to put Australia solidly in charge with their unbeaten 159-run partnership.

Smith, after battling for much of his innings, come to 65 for his to begin with half-century since he made 91 not out against the West Indies in January, once more at the Gabba.

Head was basically wonderful and took the assault right up to the Indians, who had disturbed all the other Australian batsmen within the hot and muggy conditions.

The Indian assault bowled a parcel straighter to Head than they did in Adelaide where he hit a shining 140 in a huge Australia win but he was attentive early and rebuffed any free deliveries.

As his scoring rate expanded, the Indian bowlers started to flop and Head took full advantage, crushing 13 fours and taking fair 115 conveyances on his way to his ninth Test century.

He was especially unforgiving on reviewed spinner Ravindra Jadeja, who bowled nine pointless overs for 35 runs.

Australia continued the day at 28-0 and misplaced the wickets of Usman Khawaja, Nathan McSweeney and Marnus Labuschagne within the amplified to begin with session.

The Indian bowlers, who were inefficient in their brief excursion on Saturday, were much more tightly on Sunday.

Khawaja has been battling for runs at the best of the arrange and he had a torrid time playing and lost at the unsafe Jasprit Bumrah.

He included fair two to his overnight 19 some time recently Bumrah at last drew the faintest of edges through to wicketkeeper Rishabh Gasp to take off Australia 31-1.

Bumrah struck once more in his following over when McSweeney (9) edged a basic capture to Virat Kohli at moment slip.

Labuschagne and Smith set almost settling the innings, but with both players well underneath their best heading into the Test, the scoring rate was moderate against the taught Indian attack.

Labuschagne confronted 55 balls on his way to making 12 when he uncharacteristically went for an broad drive off Nitish Kumar Reddy, as it were to urge a thick edge to Kohli, who took a sharp capture at moment slip.

The five-match arrangement is level at 1-1.
