Expect dramatic storylines, thrilling competition, fierce rivalries, and even world-record performances when athletics takes center stage at Paris 2024. The world’s greatest athletes will attempt to run, jump, and throw themselves into the history books at Stade de France from August 1-11.

After the spectacle opening ceremony here are 10 things to watch out for:

1. Can Anyone Deny Noah Lyles?

Noah Lyles aims for an unprecedented four track golds in Paris. The American sprinter, who claimed 100m, 200m, and 4x100m gold at last year’s World Championships, wants to add the 4x400m relay to his targets. He lowered his 100m personal best to 9.81 seconds in July, just 0.23 seconds behind Usain Bolt’s world record.

2. Rising Stars and Rivals

Great Britain’s world bronze medallist Zharnel Hughes and British 100m champion Louie Hinchliffe, coached by American great Carl Lewis, will be among Lyles’ key rivals. Jamaicans Kishane Thompson and Oblique Seville, Kenya’s Ferdinand Omanyala, and Italy’s Marcell Lamont Jacobs, who aims to defend his crown, have shown strong form in 2024.

3. The Fastest Man This Year

Kishane Thompson, the fastest man this year with a 100m best of 9.77 seconds, is a major contender. His performance will be closely watched as he challenges for gold.

4. Great Britain’s Contenders

Louie Hinchliffe, making his Olympic debut following a breakout year, is a potential standout. His progress under the guidance of Carl Lewis will be a significant storyline.

5. Key Event Dates

Men’s 100m final: August 4

Men’s 200m final: August 8

Men’s 4x100m relay final: August 9

Men’s 4x400m relay final: August 10

6. Potential World Records

With the caliber of athletes competing, expect attempts to break world records in various events, adding to the excitement of the Games.

7. Intense Rivalries

The competition between athletes from different nations, such as the US, Jamaica, Kenya, and Great Britain, will add drama and excitement to the events.

8. Historic Performances

Athletes will be striving to etch their names into the history books with remarkable performances, creating unforgettable moments.

9. Dramatic Storylines

The journey and personal stories of athletes, from their training to overcoming obstacles, will captivate audiences worldwide.

10. Extensive Coverage
